First Post Ever... First Jeep Ever... Just trying this out.
My 2000 Volkswagen Jetta was totaled in a wreck my friend had while borrowing my car while I was out of town so needless to say I was forced into buying a new vehicle. All my life I have wanted a Jeep but could never afford one. I went to the Jeep dealership while I was looking for cars just to tease myself a little bit and little did I know, they actually had a Jeep that I could afford. I took it for a ride and I immediately fell in love with it. Upon further review... I realized it was 2wd. I never knew Jeeps were made in 2wd until I looked under the front end and it was very empty. I debated buying a 2wd Jeep for days. I finally came to the realization that a 2wd Jeep is better than no Jeep at all. This is what it looked like when I drove it home...
I left it alone and became disappointed that my Jeep wasn't 4wd. It wasn't long until a "Jeeper" came up to me in a parking lot and asked me about my new Jeep (he saw the new tags on the back). I told him it was 2wd, expecting him to scoff at me and walk away in disgust, but instead he got excited and said, "have you considered a conversion?). I told him I hadn't even thought of it. He explained to me that I could build a 4wd from the ground up and make it better than any 4wd you can buy from a dealer and still spend less money as long as I did the installations myself. After researching and thinking about it I decided that is exactly what I would do but there was one problem... my new top of the line 2 year, bumper to bumper, unlimited mile warranty I was paying for monthly. My conversion is at a standstill until my warranty finalizes but I have decided that I can still make it look good while I wait for it to expire. So here I am... a brand new baby Jeeper, still learning everything I can. Now that you have read my story... here is my Jeep the way it looks now... yes it is 2wd and some people consider me a "poser" but I love my Jeep and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Locking or limited slip rear differential would let you do alot offroad on the cheap... If you don't want to do that, don't even worry about it.

Thanks for the info. I have been thinking about what I can do. I am saving up for a nice wench right now to go in my stinger so I can do some wheeling, get stuck, and pull myself out. haha
Thanks. I just installed my Teraflex leveling kit today and I was wondering... would you recommend 33s or 35s? I have a pair of 1.5 inch Spidertrax on hand just in case I end up needing them to get proper turn clearance. Does anyone have the Teraflex leveling kit and 35s?

Im partial to 33s because I have em but I think 35s would be more preportionate to your jeep and you can run 35 with your leveling kit but withnot awhole lot of fender room...but it looks good so far looks like with all the money you have wrapped up in stickers you could have had your 4wd conversion

Thanks. Yeah the stickers may be coming off soon... it was more of an immediate way to make my Jeep look less stock because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go all out on fixing up the REAL way. haha. I was thinking that if I got 35s I would cut my fenders back to make them flat... just until I could order some actual flat fenders. The bumper is a Smittybilt XRC Stinger with skid plate. The actual reason I got this bumper is because it is stubby which would allow for larger tires but I really enjoy it because people think twice about pulling out in front of me carelessly.
Unfortunately I can't cancel it. It was part of my monthly payment contract... plus I had to scrape just to afford this Jeep so I don't want to chance something going wrong with it mechanically for now. I figure that by the time my warranty has expired, I will have the Jeep almost entirely payed off and I will be out of school so I can afford a cheap little city car to get me around town while I create a weekend monster in my garage.

If so why wait, use the extra money for the conversion!
