Default The Gekko "Renegade" Build

The Gekko started its life as a 2dr 2012 Rubi. It is the 4th jk in our immediate family. I bought it for my kids at college. I still have to remind them its mine.

Ok here is a pic of the Gekko its first wheeling trip as a stock rubi:

My son took it to college. Soon it had this for a rear quarter. He backed into a post. I believe him.

I always intended to build Gekko, because of the damage I decided to accelerate the build. Plus my son goes to school in Lander WY and he loves to wheel.

It turned to TNT Customs to do the build. It's a "moderate" build of what TNT has named "Renegade" package:

We picked Gekko up today here it is:

It's a 3.5" short arm lift. 17" Trail Ready Beadlocks, and BFG 37" rubber.

The front fenders are Genright Tube fenders (nice product, Tony). I like the way the black trim turned out.

TNT has designed an built a rear armored fender. It should be fully commercial soon. My son clearly needed armor. Now it's there.

Here is that formerly crushed rear, now fixed:

These are TNT Guardian Sliders:

TNT Midwith Front Winch Bumper with Warn 9.5 ti winch:

Rear TNT Guardian Rear Bumper

Terra Flex Tire Carrier. (TF, Nice Product!)

The front axle is trussed. Its got ARB diff covers. Steering is PSC Hydraulic assist.

TNT Drop Bracket for Short Arm plus TNT short arms.

TNT Aluminum Belly armor set (gas tank, tranny, oil pan).

Here is my daughter bringing it back from its test drive.

Gekko has 5.13 gears, the rear axle is upgraded to chromoly. Gekko is very snappy, fun to drive.

We will bring the Gekko out to WOTR to see how well it wheels. I think it will do ok. :thumbs up:

The tail lights are a unique design, the reverse light surrounding the tail/brake light like that. cool

Thanks. Yeah, he is lucky, I am lucky to have him, and be able to build this one. The deal is: its my jeep. He is borrowing it. I can take it when I want to wheel a short wheelbase. Dad's privilege! He loves to wheel, and has been on most of my T-Rex adventures. Of course he can't do that anymore since he's in college.

Sick Jeep! One lucky kid too! If I knew that would happen to me, I would back into a pole in a heartbeat! I like the rear fender/armor. Great looking build, well done! Can't wait for TnT to finally release their rear guardian bumper.

Very nice build! and your kids are very fortunate to have you as a parent!

But damn I hated when my dad did that to me. He had an old ford bronco he bought for us to go 4 wheeling when I was 15. He always said it was for me, but that it was still his. I spent months thinking about how I wanted to build it up when it was mine. But he chose all mods. by 16 when I got my license, he still never let me have it. It was already all fixed up. It was like one big tease. lol. Anyway, things turned around for my family financial wise and I ended up purchasing my own car after my first job when I was 18.

LOL. He and my daughter (who both drive it at college) got to decide what they wanted. So what you see is what they wanted. I would have built it bigger/more extreme and probably will when they are done with it!

I really like those tail lights. Are they packaged with the armor for the rear, or could somebody, (meaning me) find them somewhere else?
