I have the GoPro vehicle mount which is basically a suction cup that fixes to your windshield. I had it on the Jeep for a week whilst I was in Spain offloading. It never fell off. I also used the Roll Bar Mount fixed to my front bumper. I've included some images.

Anyway, here are some pics of my mounting/setup and some pics from the trail.

I use an adhesive mount right under the mirror; perfect alignment everytime, with zero time required to line up the camera (unlike the suction cup), and no wiggling, etc. I use the suction cup facing in the cabin with another GoPro for some shots, and a suction cup mount in various spots outside for others.

You second picture is where I mounted it for a couple test. I'm gonna mount it lower for some mud action until the lift gets in & goes on. Then ill put it back.

The good thing about mounting behind the windshield is the wipers and sprayers. Anywhere else, and the first good blast of mud/muddy water you get, there goes the video. I also have an adhesive mount on my spare carrier, so the camera looks between the wheel spokes facing rearward to get video of others in the group.

I agree, but then you won't get to see the action up close, if you have mud flying past & hitting it. It'll make for a better video.

Inside the windshield is good when things get dirty. I put an adhesive mount on top of my Warn winch. It can be a bit scary sticky-taping a new not-so-cheap toy onto the front of your jeep and go bouncing down the way, but those mounts hold on well.
