Default Help examining tires (KM2s)

I am trying to work out a deal on a used set of 33" (285/70/17) KM2s. The owner said he believes there are roughly 8,000 miles on 4 and the spare is brand new. I have requested that the owner measure the tread depth for me or send me a pic of each tire with a quarter in the tread so I can semi gauge the tread depth myself. However, I wanted to post up the pic that he sent me originally to see what you all thought they looked like. I'll be sure to post up the other photos when I receive them as well. Thanks!

Look good to me! Btw, they last amazingly if you keep up with rotating them. I have over 35k on my 33" km2's and the tread has held together wayyyyyy better than any other m/t I have run. I rotate every oil change. In my honest opinion, I will never go to another tire until they come out with the next version!!!

Thanks for the reply. What do you think is a fair price for 4 KM2s with 8k miles and 1 brand new one?

I was wondering the same for myself ( I am about to go to 37's) I was thinking with my mileage and off road wear on mine, I was looking at $80 a tire for a total of $400 for all five. For 8k on them, I would probably say around $120-170 a tire would be a fair price. It all depends on how bad and why he is selling. I plan on selling mine to get rid of them, I'm not looking for a profit. I would say those are good figures! I would pay prob $200 for the new spare. My spare has never touched the ground, but has stains on it and what looks like dry rot. It's not really, but the spare sitting in the weather does put wear on it. I know mine has it.

There is more than 8 k on those. The outside blocks are worn past the line on the tread. The third one down is worn down in the middle lugs past the lines also.

I'd say in the $500-$650 range would be suffice. I would thoroughly go over the tires before buying them. Make sure there is no eggs or tears in the tread. Check them out. Think about it like this: roughly $225 a tire new, less depreciation and mileage, and dot forget about how far/ how much shipping on top of the overall price. I would not pay $600 for a set of tires I had to drive 100 miles for.

I see what you mean. At least on a couple of them. How many miles would you assume they have?

By looking at the picture, I'd say prob 10-12k. It's so hard to tell by a pic but when you go to the seller, bring a nickel and judge the tread of the new spare and the tires. If you look at my spare with the hairs on it and the everyday tires. There is a difference of, give or take 3-4cm. I would judge them like that and of course take into consideration how much you were "inconvenienced" to pick them up.

Thanks for the close ups. 30k!!?? I wouldn't have guessed that many miles on them. If you truly think they have that many miles on them, then I'm not sure it is worth it.
