to what he just said. Very well put! I honestly don't understand the people who buy a Rubi and don't even know what makes it a Rubi. Honestly, I think they like the way the tires look! THAT'S IT! If they put those tires on my friend's new loaded X, he couldn't tell the difference between the two. And he knows it, and is happy about it! That being said, I just signed him up for his first Jamboree! He'll REALLY see the difference between tires then!!!

The 3rd Jeep I'm dragging along with me is a guy with a Rubi that never takes it off road. I'll ask him why he selected the Rubi.

When I was selling them, it always blew my mind how many people bought them only because they were the top of the line and "looked cool" (when they really should have bought a Sahara). They'd also often replace the rock rails with Sahara sidesteps and have leather installed.

Yep, I totally agree.

A while back the local Jeep dealer had an unlimited with about $5k in extras (lift, tires, winch, etc.). They finally sold it. The salesman told me that just as the owner was getting ready to drive if off the lot, the salesman comments to the driver "now you're all set to take it off-road" to which the owner replied "not on your life!".

What a waste of money (I would have bought it except I didn't need the extra space so I passed it up (ended up purchasing a 2-door Rubicon).

I hear what you guys are sayin about people buyin the Rubi. That was my only option to buy because I knew it was ready for the mud right off of the lot. I have only been on one trail ride with it, so was it worth it? In my eyes Hell Yeah! I live on a farm and we have some pretty bad ass pasture for the cattle to get into and when we let them down there I dont wanna be gettin stuck and havin to get the tractor to get my ass out. Throw a bunch of snow into the mix and you do the math. So even know I am not out there with all the other Jeeps in my class there was only one I would ever buy, and thats what I got.

I do agree with what you all have said though, I have seen too many Rubicons with showroom shine and all the fancy "look cool" stuff but the thing never gets ridden the way it should.

I'll throw my pic in here as well, took off the Rubicon vinyl but added one with a twist.
