Default how much can my NSG370 tranny handle?

hi guys, earlier i was thinking a bolting an ls2 to my jeep, now after doing some research, i want to take a different approach to my potential project, THIS WILL BE AN OFFROAD RIG ONLY, anyways after speaking to novak, they said i could bolt a chevy small block, 350 to my current tranny, an i think that is a better option for me, my friend wants to buy the ls2 from me and i can easily buy a gen1 small block and bolt it on to my nsg370, but will it hold up?

I think it is only rated for 270 ft lbs input, which would be easily exceeded by a good tune on a SBC.

Interesing idea. That would be a cool trail rig. I don't know about the trans though. They seem to be pretty stout in most JK's we have seen wheeled hard.

Trannsmission and transfercases are awfully expensive to have as a week link in an offroader. Just my .02 and something to think about.

well ive seen quite a few ls1's mated with the nv3550 and they seemed to hold up in the tj, if the nsg370 is anything similiar it should hold up fine..... i guess

if the gearing is right and you dont overheat the tranny you might be fine. depends what type of wheeler you are. the nv3550 i still think was jeeps best tranny to date. but i am one person

i have been doing some research, and also met with a guy with a ls1 infront of the nv3550, hes not had any problems with his tranny, so thats good news i guess, if the nsg370 can handle similiar power i guess i should be ok, i have choosen the old school route, so a nice carb ontop of a small block is good with me, i found the adapter that mate a small block 350 chevy to the nsg370 at novak-adapt, it looks good...., im thinking ill order it soon, i guess the hunt for a nice small block is on!!!, ill be hitting the scrap yards soon..

Dont bother with the NSG, even an old LT1 is over its rated torque input. Find an NV4500 to go with it. Much easier to addapt (they came behind 350's for a few years), and its far stronger.
