Default My Orders have arrived

I ordered up the Drake off road hood hold down from quadratec. Got them installed today, haven't been on the highway yet, hopefully they work better then the stock ones. I travel on a really busy highway with lots of big rigs, got tired of watching my hood moving around when they passed by. Well the stock BFG's are just about done so I finally ordered up a set of AEV Savegre to replace the stock rims. Northridge4x4.ca hooked me up, great guy to deal with very helpful. Got to love when the Cdn$ is worth more then the green back. Not sure what tires to get yet or size, everything is stock what is the max size tire I can fit?

Those hood hold down look good, I will be interested to see how well the hold up against corrosion through the winter.

Default My Lift and Tires are finally installed

Well I finally got my Rough Country 3.5 Series II lift installed and my Rubber mounted on my rims. I really haven't noticed much change from stock. I really like my tire and rim choice, I think it looks really good with the Rescue Green. I still need to pick up a aftermarket Rear bumper with Tire mount. 35's weight a lot compared to Stock 32's. I am leaning toward AEV rear bumper, but its pricey. What do you guys think?

On a side note. I was not that impressed with the Drake off road hood clamps or hold downs. One day I was driving down the road doing 100km/hr, when the turn buckle must of back off and let go. Now my drivers side Hood was flopping around in the wind. I pulled over and I just happened to have some black plastic tye wraps, So i tye wraped my hood down until I got home and could put the stock ones back on.

Looks good!

Just out of curiosity, what made you choose the RC lift? FYI, I'm looking at lift choices myself now.

Default AEV Tire Carrier

What does everyone think of the AEV tire carrier with the stock rear bumper? I need a way to carrier my spare tire. Also has anyone used the 10 gal fuel caddy? Seems a little pricey, but then again everything seems pricey from AEV.

Not to say that your bitchin' about AEV's prices, but if you haven't noticed already in the off-road aftermarket business, you get what you pay for. If you want a great bumper that will last you the life of your JK or longer with 0 complaints about build quality and craftsmenship, then go with AEV. If you want a cheap Chinese POS then get a RR bumper. Yah the upfront cost of the AEV is a lot more, but it works as designed. WIth RR it's a crap shoot.

Cool

Welcome to the forum !!

These latches are brilliant ! did you have it installed???? easy to do, looking good and you can adjust them easily as well. Careful though with the wee rubber things between our bonnet and engine bay, you can lose them if your hood is not tight enough (start banging metal to metal)

I have an AEV hood, very good quality and arrived in one piece (no dents.....amazing) Nice rims !!!

Yes I installed the latches myself. The hood was also tight. But the latches lossen off while I was driving down the road.

Has anyone installed the AEV Tire Carrier only? What do you think of it? Is it easy to install?

Default AEV Tire Carrier

instructions

Well I finally ordered and installed my AEV Tire Carrier, picked it up from Northridge 4x4 up here in canada. I am really happy with it. No rattles or noises, and seems really strong. I found the instructions a little backwards. I just found it funny that they would get you to install the spindle in the housing before you cut and remount your bumper? I had a difficult time getting the spindle and spindle housing apart after. But all in all easy install and it gets my spare back where it belongs and not inside the cab. The next thing on my list is either re gearing or a front bumper. I looked into re gearing and I was a little surprised as to how much it costs. I was quoted around $2000 to $2500 to jump from 4.10's to 4.88's.

Default Truck - Lite

I just installed these headlights today and went for a drive this evening. Its like day and night how much better these headlights work vs. stock. They flicker like a stobe light with day time running lights, but i just turned them off. I barely even noticed a flicker with low beams and didn't see any flicker with the high beams. Does anybody know if they make a LED fog light to replace the stock fogs? Totally worth the money.
