It helps for if you are about to roll over forward going down a hill...it will hit and the angle of it will keep the jeep's butt from coming over and you looking backwards and upside down, down the trail. you can go to youtube and look up videos of stingers helping people out

This is a good example of what it can do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zluBflPX0E It also protects the radiator and moving parts of the engine. So in theory after you roll over...you can just be rolled back and drive home.

Ok, makes sense. I have just seen so many Jeeps driving around with them and wondered what purpose they really serve. I have to imagine a lot of them I see around town are never put to use though!

Awesome reminds me of my Jeep when I first got her. Stock with stinger
Yeah, I found the OR-Fab on sale for a price I couldn't pass up, otherwise, I doubt it would've been my first mod. I've since bought a TF leveling kit and was given some JKU coils, but I'm waiting 'till I get some wheels and tires before I put them in. Mods are coming very slowly because my wife and I had our first little one, and money's been tight. Hopefully when my income tax check comes in I can finish up a mild build by adding a rear OR-Fab, maybe some Rubi take-off sliders, a winch, some 33" x 12.5" x 15" M/Ts on some soft 8s, and putting that leveling kit with JKU coils in.
