All the Jeep panels are galvanized so technically it isn't bare steel, just a zinc coating. Any corrosion I've ever seen on the JK and or TJ hinges for that matter came from the inside the hinge sleeve itself where the upper hinge pin rubs. I'm having a hard time understanding how powder coating the exterior of the hinges in going to prevent this type of corrosion. Personally, I'd take the torx bolt out, slide the door up a bit and squirt a little oil in there every once in a while. Looks cool though.

Galvinized or not when I did this 3 of my hinges looked like this!
My dealer was willing to repaint the hinges but big deal, Then what I would get another 10 months?

Trailer. I did it this summer to pull the camper but have left it because I like the appearance. It looks beefier.
