RIPP SuperCharger Gen2 Real World Results
On a rubicon with 34" tires, how much more can I expect to spend to make the RIPP work the way it's supposed to? I'm really wanting the extra power, especially after having just driven from Arkansas to South Carolina via the lower part of the smokeys. Do I need to swap out gears? The Rubicon (automatic with a Superchips) did OK, but my check engine light came on and it refused to shift into the highest gear after a while. (OBD code PO740).
I also have an Outlander trailer that I would like to tow to some mountainous areas, but I need the extra power to really do so effectively. Any advice?

34's with the SC and 4.10's should be fine.... any bigger and you should step up to a 4:88... However you should still consider gearing because you tow - otherwise your looking to kill your trans. Lastly install a trans cooler as well.

Wow...I just had a Gen2 installed and could not be happier. I am watching my gas milage increase every day with only 500 miles so far. Install went perfect with excellent support from RIPP (Ross). Dyno'd at 240 to the rear wheels !
Worth every penny !

I did finally talk to Ripp I had to call them as they didn not return my e mail. Fankly if you are so fond of them I would be more than happy to sell it to you at 75% of what I paid & further more since I go to Colordo numerous times a year would be glad to deliver it to you! 75% of the $6600 i have invested in this sysem is $4950 let me know when you or anyone else wants to pick it up or where you would like me to send it.
But, you did give me a wonderful idea if I am to ever sell this vehicle. A lot of times you hear the word "invested" in the Jeep community - but I didn't know that you could go all in. I mean now I can add $5000 to my "invested" price on account of the gas I put into it. LOL.
My issue was that you seem to absoutely hate RIPP, and they have done nothing whatsoever for you. Given that, why not just move on and get rid of the thing. You remind me of the "homeowners" of late. They don't want to be out of the house, they don't want a reset where they can just move on, they don't want out of the mortgage and what backs it - no, they just want a free house.
Seems that many of the people on here really like RIPP, so your opinion seems out of line. And again, I just ask - what is it that you want RIPP to do? Really? Given the way you have been going on here, boasting about keeping people from buying the kit, they seem on face to be above and beyond helpful.
Hmmmm. Just a little bit more than the sale price of a brand spanking new Gen2 kit with intercooler. I will have to sleep on it. LOL

It fair to say that he's frustrated - and its fair to say he wants what he paid for. The fact is he got the power, drivability and reliability, but for what ever reason he's not enjoying MPG - From our perspective there is a variable - how we pinpoint it from NYC is a different story.
Thank you for the perspective and we appreciate your points... we would rather not start another verbal contest in this very informative thread.

Still trying to learn about superchargers (and a lot of other stuff).

Thanks.

Installed the RIPP supercharger about a month ago, and have about 4000 miles on it now.
Power is nice, but not consistent. I get a hesitation when driving through town and trying to maintain a speed of say 35-40 mph. Feels like the engine is missing mildly.
Throttle position is very finicky in that the pedal needs to be in the perfect position in order for the SC to respond. Too much, and power goes flat. Too little, and there's no acceleration.
Jeep has trouble starting now when the engine is warm (I used to barely touch the key and I was running - now it's crank, crank, crank). Additionally, engine used to surge on startup, but the 2.6a tune has fixed that.
Still have a surging (ebb and flow of power) when engine is under mild load (for example when ascending a slight rise in the highway, not a hill per se). This is especially exacerbated when the cruise control is engaged.
I've lost 2-3 miles per gallon (hand calculated) in fuel economy. Am driving the same as always - like a Grandpa. Have tried 89, 91, 93 octane from different gas station companies and haven't noticed much change. Guess that makes sense as I've got a load on the engine that wasn't there previously.
Am able to climb hills without needing to downshift as much which is nice.
Was able to keep up with my convoy driving to and from Moab recently. I think without the SC, I would have been left behind.
Hopefully the issues I've mentioned above will eventually be addressed - I know RIPP is working on a number of these problems with Diablo. When the heavens are all aligned properly (pedal position, highway conditions, good gas, etc) the added power is really nice, and for those brief moments, the Jeep is really fun to drive.

Installed a RIPP Gen 2 with headers and mopar catback about two months ago. After a few ironed-out glitches, drivability became acceptable: but then I forgot how it performed when it was n/a.
In other words, I don't feel the claimed advertised 80% gain in power. The workshop installed a boost guage and its showing a max of six towards rpm limit. I don't know wht hp that represents, but my car definitely does not accelerate like the vid shown on the 1st page of this thread.
I have a 09 auto unlimited with stock ratios (4.10) and two inch Mopar lift on 33 tires.
