Default Safari Snorkel Installed! PICS

Well, finally got my Safari snorkel installed and all the breathers raised. I preferred the way the Safari version slotted in through the quarter panel and fender as opposed to along and through the hood. Couple of things to watch out for with these. Once you chop the quarter panel that panel is weakened and not really held in place well. It needs some attention to properly bind and fix it again, otherwise you'll end up with a lot of vibration that many complain about on the Ozzy forums. Also, the brake tubes will need a little bit of bending to get them to completely avoid contact with the fender pipe. If you don't do that they will be compromised and also a hole will eventually be worn in that pipe, neither of which are desirable.

On the 6 speed manual it's breather is a pain in the butt to get to but it has to be done. It's apparently much simpler on the autos.

Lastly, before installing this, I was getting some annoying vibration during acceleration which I'd put down to a small nut that had dropped inside the hood. It wasn't that at all, it was my little 8 inch stubby antenna that was causing it. A little silicone dampening at the base stopped it and now all is peaceful once again.

BTW, mine is a 2dr 2.8 CRD.

Here's a couple of pics. Haven't done any of the engine bay and fender area but if anyone needs some just let me know:

Here's one showing how the 8" stubby antenna and Mopar light brackets work with this setup:

TBH, I knew this job was gonna be a PITA and really wanted it done properly first time, so I took it to a local off road specialist that I know well and had him do the whole lot. It took 2 guys 11 hours to complete because they spent a fair amount of time making sure I would get zero vibration from the weakened panel.
He raised all four breathers but I wasn't there to watch exactly what he did, I'm afraid so can't really help much there.

Are you doing your's yourself? I was thinking about doing it but I'm darn glad I didn't try when I heard what a PITA it was.

No, I will be taking it to an ARB dealer, I did one on a previous 4wd, and decided never again, job came out good, but not worth the time.... I like doing mods myself but stay away from suspension and snorkels

Hi again
Just wondering if you get any loss of front / side vision with the snorkel now being installed, especially being a RH drive. Plus any increased noise ?

Looks good though.
Still waiting until mines out of warranty before considering any mods.

No, no decrease in vision at all. It sits hidden behind the windscreen pillar so uoi can't even see it. The only thing you'll see is a bit of the filter at the top. With the windows closed on the hard top there's zero wind noise from it. With the driver's window down you notice a bit but nothing too bothersome.
