TeraFlex Rear Tire Carrier - Who else has one? Are you running after mkt bumper too?
Just installed my TF Rear tire carrier and am very pleased. I have been debating over the decision to go this rout vs rear bumper + integrated tire carrier for quite some time.
Although I understand everyone has their own reasons and personal preference as to any mod they choose to do, here are a few of the things that swung me over to the TF carrier vs a traditional bumper + tire carrier set up.
1. TF carrier is much lighter and has minimal impact on my rear suspension now and the future
2. TF carrier is less money than the bumper/ tire carrier set ups I wanted
3. TF carrier was extremely simple to install and took little time
4. TF carrier allows me to continue using stock bumper (again, a weight thing)
6. TF carrier has a variety of accessories for future projects (antenna mount, roto pax/ hi-lift mount)
So are any of you, who are running the TF tire carrier, also running after market bumper? If so, what kind? Pics?
Thanks!!!

stock bumper doesn't provide as much protection as a steel bumper. I had to decide if that was a real safety factor for me. at 3.5" lift, how many vehicles will hit my bumper? those that could, how many would hit my tire vs my bumper, since it sticks out further? It became a "non factor" for me from a safety perspective to continue with stock bumper.
5. TF carrier is barely visible and keeps rear tire snug against tailgate (no rattle, shaking, etc...very solid mount)6. TF carrier has a variety of accessories for future projects (antenna mount, roto pax/ hi-lift mount)

If you get their adjustable carrier to go with the hinge, then you can run up to a 37. Another plus to their's over other carrier is that it keeps the tire low enough to still have some visibility out the back window.

Honestly the TF carrier is the best $$ I spent on my jeep. It holds my 35 nitto perfectly and with almost no added weight. There's no rattle from it and it is a sturdy piece of equipment and it definitely is well designed and I'm glad I bought it. I got my HD hinge for 380 shipped from groupbuy4x4 too

as mentioned above, it will hold up to a 37" tire, if you buy the adjustable tire carrier part. That is what I am using for my 35" tire. I am running 20" wheels too...it's a heavy son of a gun and so far so good, the tire carrier and tale gate show no signs of weakness.

I went with the Teraflex tailgate hinge and tire carrier for a couple of reasons. I have never seen a swing away tire carrier that was exactly what I wanted. They all either rattle, or they are too heavy and too complicated. I like the Teraflex tire carrier and hinge though. The tailgate shuts very solidly, like you're shutting the door on a bank vault. It is a real quality piece of work.
I combined it with an Expedition One trail series rear bumper that is made out of aluminum. The bumper only weighs 35 lbs. I have an aluminum bumper, and an aluminum tailgate hinge/tire carrier, which keeps the weight down, and with my 35" spare tire it works better than OEM.
