on the back of each freedom top there is a small plastic block that flips out to sturdy the back of the top. it will rest against the top of the roll bar it takes the place of the front of the hard top where the freedom top would rest against that

I am assuming we should. I assume this because I did not do this today and my tops are cranked down tight, but rattling. Thanks for the unsolicited fix.

yes you can over crank the screws and actually pierce the freedom top so always flip that block out before setting the screws

from 2008 owners manual, pdf downloaded version

Front Panel(s) Installation Only (With Rear Hard
Top Removed)
1. Turn left and right panels over and move spacer block
(located on rear of panel) upward 90 degrees.
NOTE: The front panel (s) must be positioned properly
to ensure sealing. Set the panels on the windshield frame
so that there is no overhang. Also, make sure that the
panels are sitting flush with the body.
2. Install right panel first, then the left panel

you only flip those blocks down when just using the front panels alone, it makes up for the rear of hardtop that would keep the panels from going down more, if you dont flip them down you do stand a good chance of putting the screws thru the tops, just remember to flip them back up when you put the rear back on.

Thanks for the advice. Never knew they were there. Glad I did not crank those screws down. I got it fixed and can see why they are inmportant now.
