Trashed My Dana 44 Front Axle
D60 front minimum bolt pattern is 5 x 5.5. Some manufactures make an adapter/spacer to fit a 5 x 5.5 wheel to a 5 x 5 axle, but not the other way around.
Currie actually does have an option to run the stock 5x5 bolt pattern on their 60. It seems like it is more of a hybrid between the 60 and 44 though as it sounded like the ball joints, and knuckes were off the 44.
LOL.
Caught me there.
Tim had not yet upgrade the shafts or sleeved the front axle. I moved the beadlocks to the 2dr and am running the lighter 37x12.5x15 MTRs on Cragar Soft 8s to the 4dr. Not sure how much a difference it makes, but they are lighter.
Looks like I will be fine with the large Spicers. Upgraded shafts and sleeves are in my wife's near future--should have bought them for "Mothers Day."

i'm looking forward to see pics of your exploits
as far as your axle goes, honestly, i'd save your money and forget about sleeving them. in the 60,000 miles i have put on my jeep and working it hard, i have never seen axle tube strength being an issue. bent c's, you bet ya - that's what gussets are for. a broken front locker, sure and i've broken 2 in the rear but then, they were all the factory lockers. and now, a broken driver side shaft - to be honest, it's the only shaft that i have ever seen break up front on any jeep.
Well, I didn't read all the posts but I feel your pain. I too was a victim of weak rubicon dana 44's.
I've got a rock jock in the front of mine and a built 44 in the rear. I love it
I know that ORE is an authorized danatrac dealer, but I love my Currie. Their service is great. You won't go wrong either way. I love the weight in the front. The jeep climbs like a champ. This truly is an opportunity for upgrades, good luck. Hey thats what they make credit cards for/

for driving around town and some light wheeling, sure, a 30 will hold up to a set of 37's. i do it now on my TJ. but, you won't catch me doing the kind of wheeling i do in my JK in my TJ.
yeah, i have seen that but if i'm going to upgrade, i'd want to make sure that what i get is a complete upgrade. no sense in only going half way especially when i know it would only lead to more problems.
i don't know if i'd say i do anything crazy. in fact, i think that i'm a pretty conservative driver but, i do like a good challenge
pulled both front shafts so nothing would spin. after that, the jeep drove great just like any 2wd vehicle

I would hate to sell them

You left the outer stubs in right?
