the amount of light that shines thru will depend on who painted the lens' and how many coats they gave.
if i too photos day or night they'd be different.
as ive said and youve seen others say...the number of coats are subjective and differ in preference.
you should probably stay away from this mod.
again a subjective opinion - some like coke, some like pepsi....4 coats for me would be WAY too dark & the can doesnt recommend more than TWO iirc.
based on the amount of overspray on the cardboard you must have held the can pretty far away...or that was only one coat...again because this is a DIY mod, everyones is gonna be a little different.
theres no way the lights are as clear/bright as before - it just not logically possible....putting something over the lens to darken them WILL reduce the amount of light that shines thru.

i dont think youll be satisfied w/ that - either you like the look or you don't.
