What was done to your JK this week?

Is this the newest version of the trektop? This looks really good. You have the tailgate bar and all? How loud is the wind noise with this on?

Yes, this is the latest version, with the tailgate bar. Although, I must state that velcro would provide a faster way to remove the rear window, if not as water tight. To remove the rear window, it needs to disengaged from the C channel in the bar, and the track in the top itself. So, you have to unhook the corners of the top from the rails, unzip both sides of the window, reach in and unhook the tailgate bar. Then, you can slide out the window. Of course, you have to snap in the bar again, and re-hook the corners of the top. It takes a few minutes.

A second method is to unhook the top completely from the rail on one side and slide out the window after unzipping. However, when it is cool out or the top is new, stretching it again to re-hook it is a finger buster. When the top relaxes and we have summer temps, it should be much easier.

Wind noise is no worse than the factory soft top, but louder than the Freedom top, as expected.

We had some moderate to heavy rain last night. This morning I found two drops of water on the forward edge of the passenger side door (forward and above the inside door lock). That was a pleasant surprise, I expected worse. When we dry out, I'll add some soft weather stripping to mating surface, which should stop that very minor weeping. Minor in that you get 100x more water just opening the door when it is raining.

The header seals very well. I replaced a piece of weather stripping that was torn (maybe by me, but I believe it was packed that way at Bestop). I know some guys have complained about leaking headers and wind noise. I'm convinced that it is a result in incorrect assembly and installation by the user.

Another nice thing is that when you do open a door, the rain water doesn't pour in. No more water pouring onto your pant leg...

A friend has the Trektop on his Unlimited. He found some minor water weeping on a seam near the bow. I went over with my spray can of Scotch Guard. I sprayed all along seam from the inside. No more leak. I told him to apply the Scotch Guard every two months or so until he puts the Freedom top back on in the fall.

On a whole, with the except of the tedious process of removing the rear window, I'm very happy with the Trektop.

My regards,

Widewing

Rotated the tires yesterday, checked the oil after getting the rear seal fixed last week.
Took the top and doors off the other day!

Default Posted in European section but thought I would share...

I just got home from uni for Easter holidays so I finally got around to dynamat-ing the soundbar- got rid of all the rattles and now has a lot more bass behind it.

Also my front left headlight had somehow filled up with water whilst at uni and has corroded the silver reflector and the bulb so I replace them with Wipac headlights which have an angel eye ring of led's around the outside.

I also went to the dealer in Edinburgh and they are now ordering up parts(new breather lines) for a tsb for the fuel filler vent.....hopefully this will fix the 20 minute (if not longer fill up time).
EDIT: The tsb is now done and works perfect
And had my steering wheels re-centered it was so off center the esp light was coming on.

sorry I cant seem to be able to see any files on my computer with the new upload feature so your just going to have to click on the links....sorry
