Default 2.5" budget boost where do you stop?

Not really knowing any better, i look at a bb as something to get you by. Sure i would love 37's and a six" long arm lift or what not, but the simple fact of the matter is,this thing needs to get me to work, fit in my garage, and the wife and kid need to be able to get in it. With that said, when choosing a bb should just buy the spacers, or go with a kit that includes springs and shocks? Im looking at the teraflex kit w/springs and shock, but im not sure if all that is really warranted to simply run 35s and do somelight wheeling?

Would really like to know the answer to this question as well. Thinking about going down the same road.

I started with the 2.5 BB for almost a year them went with a 4 in lift, 2.5 wasn't enough. THe four inch looks good and will be all you need for most trails, plus you can run 37's if you want. If you get much bigger then 37's you will need several more mods IMO.

Light wheeling? Look into the Old Man Emu kit. Otherwise a spacer lift should ride close to stock, fit 35s, and be easy on the wallet.

What about the options though. Can you just buy spacers, or do you need the shock extenders/springs/etc.

You will want shock extenders to re-use stock shocks, or upgrade to Bilstein 5100s. You may want adjustable panhard/track bar to re-align your axle. A 2" lift probably won't push it too far out of alignment. I don't think most people upgrade that component on such a short lift.

All budget boosts are pretty much the same. AEV, Teraflex, Old Man Emu are good kits.

I agree, but this would not fit in my garage, and I just cant leave my baby outside. In truth, I am pretty nervous about a 2.5lift with 35's.

Of course I've added a couple of other small necessities in there, like 2" rear bumpstops, rear coilspring wedges, and extended steel braided brake lines, but as far as suspsneion goes, that's it. And it drives & wheels just fine, although a gear change is in order in the near future. Even has decent flex with the front swaybar disconnected. Of course with it connected it gets tipsy if I push it too far.

Besides the lift, all you need to do is chop the flares to make them flat and the trim the rear pinch seams. Actually, back at the end of October, some friends and I did a Rough Country 2.5" suspension lift and 1" body lift on a 2011 JKU that is now running 37" Falken Wild Peaks. That kit is fairly inexpensive compared to some and it includes shocks. Pretty easy to install, too, if you have tools, a couple friends, and time......and of course beer.

Pics for proof.....

Flexy Shots

This is what happens when you don't disconnect the front swaybar.....

So how tall is your rig like that?

I'm running the RK 2.5" Max travel kit with 5100s, and 1" spacer on the front with 35s. It fits in my garage (with a 7' door), and it fit when I didn't have any bumpers on it (which means its as tall as it'll get).

Here's a pic with a front bumper on it (inside my garage):
