Default 2012-17 Anything to avoid?

I want to get another JK with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, probably with an automatic transmission. Is there anything to avoid or be aware of in the model years 12-18?

Todd

My 2012 was perfect, but some suffer from left side head issues that results in a ticking sound. Chrysler extended the warranty for this issue on the 2012 models. The 2014 models are well known to have a crack develop in the oil filter housing that likely costs around $800 to replace. That happened to the 2014 I have now.

There are 18 JKs as well. That's what I have. No issues so far.

Avoid poorly maintained, modded - poor lift kits - etc, and appearing to have been BEAT off Road..

This fix is remove the intake and intake manifold to get access to the oil filter housing/cooler assembly and replace it. Sometimes it's just the o-rings but it's the same work regardless. For a few hours time it can be a DIY job or it can be several hundred at the dealer as Rob stated. It's really a frustrating one compounded by the fact most the time the Mopar part is back ordered so your option is wait or aftermarket. Dorman now makes an aluminum housing. It seems most reviews on that are positive.

I have a 2018 and it has a tick on the left side. That should be exhaust and not rocker issue?
