Default 2012 or 2013?

Hey all,

I've been wondering what's going on with the JK for 2012 now that I'm hearing rumors of a "sleekened" exterior coming.

The new interior changes for '11 haven't bothered me because I'm not in love with it or the previous '10 interior.

But I'm not sure I would like to see the JK exterior dramatically altered because I think it's the best looking Jeep since the CJ.

I found this (below) regarding upcoming changes:

"No mechanical or powertrain updates are expected, with Jeep holding off on major changes until the all-new Wrangler arrives in late 2012 or early 2013. "

I found this quote here: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/507...nch-early-2011

Does anyone really know what's going to happen for '12? I'm going to jump and get an '11 with a 3.8 rather than wait for the 3.6 if Jeep is going to take a pen to the exterior and possibly destroy the exterior look of the JK.

So is it coming in '12 or '13?

Thanks,

B.S.

im definatly not buying a 2012 just for a "new interior" its a ploy to try to sell more of the "last model" i have many friend that are either service managers or new car managers that know alittle something about jeeps.....

if you need a new one... buy a new one, if your waiting for change wait until something "actually" changes not a new interrior.

I do not like the interior of the JK. I have already ripped out the carpeting and line-x'd it (carpet in a jeep and have also taken off the padding and had the roll cage coated. I think I am more disappointed with the dash , all of the plastic bothers me.

Isn't five years a bit early to replace the JK? It was a 8 year run for the YJ and 9 years for the TJ.

Default Need a new one, but can wait another year.

That's just it. I need a new one and I had planned on holding out a bit longer for a real mechanical change. If there is going to be an update to include the 3.6 Pentastar motor or a small block diesel for '12 I'll wait. But if there is a chance that Chrysler/Fiat is going to restyle the exterior for the '12 model year to make it "slicker" I'm thinking that it would be best for me to just get an '11.

I don't mind the new interior (as long as I don't load it up it's fine) because I never thought the '07-'10 interior was anything to write home about.....it was the weakest part of the JK design IMHO. The new interior is better in some ways and worse in others so I don't mind it, for me it's 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.

So I'm wondering if anyone really has any info about the '12 if it is going to be just like '11 with new engine options or is it going to have an exterior revision and new engines? I want the new engine but absolutely don't want an exterior restyle that may take the Wrangler even further from it's roots. I'd rather have the current exterior and a 3.8 than a 3.6 with a restyled exterior. So I'll order an '11 in a two door if '12 get's an exterior revision. It's too bad the motor updates have not occurred for the '11 model year to me.

Thanks,

B.S.

Default I think so.

I think so too but am not sure. I expected the JK to be like the TJ too and have a fairly long run with a minor revision (like '11) at about 1/2 way through its run. I've been thinking (and I could be wrong) that after the '11 interior revision we'd see the JK run another 3 or 4 model years as is and then get a total redesign for '14 or '15. But some of the talk out of Chrysler is that there may be more changes for '12 to the design in addition to new motors.

Well with world ending in 2012 you might just get into a 2013.
I'm personally waiting for the 2017's I'm hearing that they might make some cool changes.

Nope that's too long to wait and i doubt the changes will be cool by then. I bet we won't recognize a Wrangler as a Jeep by then!

I don't think the 3.8 as enough power. I would wait for the 2012 for the new motor. My 2 cents.
