Definetly KNOW the exact JEEP and package that you're shopping for, do your homework and know how much all the options you want cost.
Once i knew what jeep i wanted and how much i wanted to spend, i got my financing ready before stepping foot in the dealership ( i gave myself an extra $1,000 to play with on top of my budget since realisticly I was NOT gonna get the exact price i had in mind... but i was damn sure gonna try ! )

I made sure that i negotiated an OTD price to get my 2012, thats the only way youre gonna know ecxactly how much youre going to end up paying in total ( without loan interest ). You cannot budget based a on sticker price or invoice price bc you dont know how much taxes and what not they going to tag along with it, as they do vary from state to state, thats just how I like to do my negotiation.

I got an E-price a week before i went to the dealership, once we sat down to negotiate i never mentioned the E-price they had previously given me on a very similar jeep. The salesman went back and forth to his manager three times and claimed that he was giving the absolute bottom price, he said that they werent making any money on it. I stuck to my budget no matter what.
So after all of that was said and done i mentioned my e-price i had gotten a week previous, salesman said, " ohhhh you never mentioned you were an online customer", i just laughed bc my e-price was over $2,000 lower than their " lowest price", he showed me everything on his computer screen they were only making $5 of the holdback.

I ended up getting %3 under invoice price thats with no military/student/loyalty discount or any other type of rebates so im sure some of guys out could do alot better if you qualify for the discounts or rebates. Dont let them SELL YOU a the car, BUY YOURSELF the car.

Good luck.
I definetly agree. Try get the best deal you can, but dont cheat yourself out of a good dealership its definetly worth having good people to deal with and work on your car.

This is all fantastic advice. I appreciate ya'll taking the time to help me out here. I've wanted a wrangler for a while and will be paying cash on top of my trade in, so it's going to be pretty close to $15k once it's all said and done. A pretty good chunk of change for a guy my age.

Call Friendship Jeep in Bristol TN. Anthony Boyd is his name, Tell him i referred you. Awesome Awesome pricing. He even delivered to my work in Greenville SC and drove my 11 2dr Sport back. I neg over the phone and Internet even got me 2.4% @72 months and he stayed on top of everything. You could tell he cares about his customers. I get calls from him every now and then just asking how everything is going.

Another side note like another poster stated. Edmunds KBB and TrueCar Value are awesome resources when it comes to the true cost of a new vehicle. I used those when I bought my 11 2Dr Sport and when I traded up to my 12 JKU.

Remember there is MSRP (Sticker), Invoice and then there is actual dealer cost. Don't get dealer cost and invoice mixed up thinking they are the same.

I cannot remember which one of the above websites showed actual dealer cost but it's an excellent resource when negotiating.
