2012 won me over
Traded my '06 Rubicon soft-top half-doors 6-speed for a '12 Rubicon soft-top half-doors 6-speed last night. Gotta say I'm very happy with the JK! It seems like it sits way higher than the TJ Rubi, and definitely has the power advantage (even though there's only 57 miles on it now, after the drive home from the dealer). I love the cruise control and the Sirius radio too. It's Cosmos Blue and the color is amazing, really happy with that choice. It's got 'Satin Carbon' colored alloy wheels (description from the window sticker) which was a surprise to me (they look great, don't you think?) because I thought the Rubi's came with silver-colored alloy wheels. The only options on this rig are deep tint sunscreen windows (on the softtop) and a trailer hitch. Really, really nice rig; very happy with the choice to jump from the TJ to the JK. Pics are of the TJ with the JK in the dealer's lot and the first pic of the JK in the garage at home.

I went from my 04 TJ Rubicon to a 2012 JK 2 Dr Rubicon......want to talk about a huge improvement. Don't get me wrong....I had 2 TJs a 97 Sport and the 04 Rubi, and I loved them......but for a daily driver/trail rig......the 2012 fits the bill a lot better. even my 2dr JK seems to have way more room with the back seat out then the Tjs did......I know they are bigger but it seems really big.
I'm thinking about doing the same.. I have a Grand Cherokee SRT8 and 1991 Cherokee.
I'd like to hear more about why you made this decision, the upsides and downsides.
Thanks

I went from a Commander to the 2012 Unlimited and didn't consider it a trade "down". The Unlimited has more room than the Grand or the Commander. It's not as nice on the inside, but I have heated leather seats, navigation, uconnect, pretty much everything I'd have in the Commander or Grand, and it can go offroad, unlike the others...it definitely looks better too!
