Already bought a 2011, but I wonder if someone will make a programmer to change valve timing for better torque. As shown its only making 20 more ft-lbs than the 3.8. I'll be interested to see what the torque curves look like as well. Probably quite decent.

Well MSRP's raised quite a bit more than I thought they would. Pretty sad that Chrysler will charge you more than $28000 for a vehicle with manual locks and windows, unpainted body panels, 16" steelies, cloth seating and manual folding rag top with plastic windows. I love all those aspects of the Wrangler, its just that every other manufacturer acknowledges them for what they are. The are cost cutting parts and they passes the savings on to the customer accordingly. Some how Chrysler considers this premium content. Seriously, if one of the Japanese brands made an identical vehicle to the JK they would probably be 25% less expensive. THANK YOU CHRYSLER!! Great to see our tax money keeping incompetence afloat.

Are you being forced to buy one? They price it like this because they sell like crazy!

The price has gone up about $2600 in the last 2 model years. For that, you get an all new interior and now a new, modern motor. I think that most people who start looking at a Wrangler now - who never looked before - would think the price is o.k., given what you get. It is us, who know Jeeps from a long time ago, who must cope with sticker shock.

Most interesting to me is the growing spread in price between 2 and 4 door models, now almost $4k! They really need a stripped model that adds Rubicon hardware while eliminating ALL comfort/luxury options.

I agree. MSRP differences will be about $5000 between when the JK was introduced in 2007 and the '12 model. There is no logical explanation for this other than Chrysler wanting to bend it's most loyal customers over.

You realize that is the definition of price gouging right?

Actually, there is. Daimler managed all Chrysler properties, including Jeep, as second class citizens. The products were not up to modern standards. The price increase results from a combination of component upgrades, internal costs (anybody heard of health care and pensions?) and market realities - Jeeps are selling like crazy.

I know those prices listed are MSRP, but any idea what the invoice prices would be? A lot (if not most) folks on these forums seem to use the TL discount and work from there.
