2012 Wrangler information thread
For those having trouble with orders i suggest they contact their dealer and ask questions. I ordered my 2012 sport on 6/20/2012 and waited and waited. I had a vin the first week, but never a build date. I contacted chrysler customer service by phone and email and was provided no help. The last email i received basically stated the jeep will be built "sometime". I contacted my dealer and told him about the customer service response. I informed the dealer i was cancelling my order due to the lack of service provided by chrysler even before i received my vehicle. My salesman and the sales manager contacted the chrysler district representative and he contacted the toledo plant wednesday. My jeep was built thursday and shipped today. I have bought many vehicles from the various blackwell baldwin dealerships over the past 30 years and their customer service is second to none. I highly recommend them for your next jeep. at blackwell baldwin jeep dexter, mo for a fair deal and great service before and after the sale

One week in and about 400 miles on the new Jeep. The 2012 is awesome. I traded my 08 that was fully built for a 12 Rubi. Starting over on the build but worth it. After a 350 mile drive from Philly to Charlottesville, VA I can say the road handling of this new engine is much better than my 2008. It charged up hills without an issue. I had a manual tranny and 4.88 gearing with 35s on my 08 and now have an auto with 4.10s running stock 32 KMs. The ride is better, performance is better, interior is better and gas mileage is better. I have never broken 20 mpg on the old Jeep ever pre rehear, lift and 35s. I averaged 21 mpg running about 65-70. I will say the rpms at 70 are a little high with the 410s and the new engine. It sat around 2600 most of the trip.
Now to get the build started. Let's get some aftermarket parts available. I need a new bumper (already dented the plastic one on a trail), snorkel and winch. Already added the ACE sliders with no issues on the 12. Sam fit as my 08.

hey, I'm in Charlottesville!
As to DYI undercoating, its a PITA. I did it to my XJ, what a mess. i used a drop cloth, a face shield and old clothes and two cans of the undercoating (using foil to mask what I didnt want sprayed).
I'll check into my dealer next week re: crush availability.
Does anyone have a dozer yet? I want to see more pics!

Holy cow!!!! Today I test drove a top of the line 2012 Rubicon Unlimited Automatic (Yes with a matching top and fender flares). Anyways leather interior and navigation, basically "THE WORKS". Let me tell u this, in town there was ALMOST no difference!!! It shifted a lot but lacked that ummfff that I truly thought this new engine was going to have!!! Yeah when I was on the highway u could feel a bit more power but "it's a jeep" screw the highway!!! My 2010 auto with 5.13's felt the same as the 2012 around town. What a unbelievable disappointment!!! Now if u put larger tires on u r back to the same dogging as before!!!!
Now as to when I did feel a different was when I drive a 2012 2door bone stock and manual. Grant it the jeep had the smallest wheels possible and it was lighter but this was when u could really feel it just wanting to take off an when u did u could hear a different engine. Here is the problem, I want 4door and even though I enjoy manual i have driven it my whole life that now I enjoy auto.
BASICALLY, 4dr auto was a huge disappointment! And the 2dr manual with tinnie tiny none jeep looking wheels felt good.
I leave u with this.......NOTHING!! Once again I really wanted to upgrade to the 2012 but in my opinion not with it!!! I hate saying that cause I was a big fan of it coming out. All I will feel that changed is the interior and to me it's not worth it!
I guess i will be supercharging
All of u that r on the fence with having to pick between a 2011 DEAL or a 2012. I would heavily recommend save the cash and get the 2011 deal. Just regear it cause I WILL have to anyways with the 2012 and/or supercharge it. With the saved cash u can have more HP at the rear wheel with a RIPP supercharge 2011 then with a 3.6L 2012

I'm curious if an engine computer re-flash can improve the low end?
Just picked up my 2012 rubi u yesterday...then came straight to work for an overnight shift. I went with the tire/wheel warranty. Its a 6 year warranty on tires and rims, that INCLUDES AFTERMARKET - all for less than the price I was going to spend on the replacement certificates from discount tire direct. Not a bad deal, and no need to purchase new certificates when I replace my tires, either. I declined the rest of the additional coverage, though.
