What sort of recommendations to they make?

Do what you like. This is straight out of the manual and apparently I mispoke on the "no break in procedure". It actually reads:

"ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
A long break-in period is not required for the engine and
drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle."

"Drive moderately during the first 500 miles (800 km).
After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or
55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the
limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in.
Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental
and should be avoided."

Not worth causing a problem on a vehicle I plan to have for years because I didnt keep my foot out of it for a couple weeks.

But please post your times if you decide to give it a go with yours!

I think they ought to go check the average highways speed limit. I can't even get home from my dealership with out using the highway and driving that slow around here is a good way to get into an accident.

Besides wouldn't the RPM the engine is turning at vary based on tranny, gear ratio, and tire size the vehicle comes with from the factory. Which means the highway speed recommendations dont mean poop :P Since one Jeep at 3000rpm may run at 60mph where as another with a different tranny and gear ratio etc may run only at 50mph

Wonder if its in case they forgot to tighten something down rather than break in procedure :P

That's kind of my thoughts. I drive probably 275 miles a week. I think I can manage to avoid the highway for 9 days. Not fun, but could pay off in the long run.

My dealer doesn't try to sell me a single thing. I've bought 3 vehicles from them and they know I don't BS, so maybe that's why?

Just want to know other peoples experiences with getting their 2012 order delivered. I ordered my JKU sport on 7/9 and received my VIN on 7/25 when it went to D status. Since calling from 7/25, all customer service has been able to tell me that it is ready to proceed on the line. Is it normal to stay in "ready to proceed on the line" for 3 weeks? I finally sold my 07 JKU so I now need a ride asap and I can't even get an ETA. Does anyone have any idea of how long it normally stays in this status? Any help is appreciated.

I ordered mine on 07/07 and it was delivered to the dealer today. Took 6 days to go into D status and then another 17 days until it was built and released from factory. If I had to guess, your Jeep will be built in the next few days.

Don't buy any of that crap except for maybe the warranty. The paint protection is nothing more than a good polymer wax, the fabric protection can be done with scotch guard and the undercoat can be done yourself with a can of undercoat spray.
