This is the same trans. that was used in the XK Jeeps for years, and possibly the WK Jeeps as well. It's not "new". I had one in '06 and I wasn't impressed with it (actually it was the wife's). If you want specs on it, just look up XK specs.
I really think Jeep is trying to get the '11s out the door while they can. Same as some people finding dealers not wanting to order '12s for them... people off the forums may not know about the 12s and take a deal on an '11. Once the word is out, they'll have to give away the '11s... JMO
So apparently the online VIN tracking website is not real time - I got a call from my dealer today, who informed me that my jeeps status now shows that it is being painted, but the status online shows it is still D1. I guess that means that those of us who have been mashing reload on that screen might be wasting our time a little bit...

The kicker is the Jeep will arrive at the dealership when I'm out of town. That's going to kill my kid.
JKers -
Since selling my 2008 JKU, i've been wanting to return to the fold...glad to say it will happen soon.
I've been reading about the new orders for the 2012 wranglers and the tread lightly discount. I have a CDI # that is good until the end of the year (we had a commander that nearly ended up as a buy-back, and GM corporate gave us the CDI # to use on our next vehicle purchase). I've researched and found this:
"The CDI extends Employee Pricing to the recipient of a CDI number. The Employee Pricing level is approximately 4% - 6% below factory invoice or 8% - 14% below MSRP, depending on the vehicle model being purchased. The customer will incur a $200 processing fee for using this incentive."
I was going to use it to get a 2011 at a deeper discount, but the pricing seemed to change at the dealer after they realized we had the CDI. Now I'm thinking of ordering a 2012 Rubicon and avoiding any haggle/hassle.
Anyone out there used a CDI lately? How much of a discount did you get? Thanks in advance for sharing...

It's a major upgrade for the Wrangler.
Ok so today I made an attempt to get some photos of some new jeeps on the lot at the plant. I found a parking lot full of Wranglers not sure if they were 11's or 12's. I did notice alot of matching colored hard tops. I parked in a lot across the street to take some pictures, and in a matter of seconds a security guard came out to ask what i was doing. I told him i was just turning around. The lot is on a hill and at most you can see the front row of the jeeps. I will attempt to go back out with my wife to snap some pics. It will probably be this weekend.

NICE ATTEMPT! Applause all around
Gotta admit it's an odd form of voyeurism but one we're all dieing for.
