Default 2013 vs 2009 thoughts

I find myself in a pleasant bind. I have a 2009 X Sport with some nice mods; however, I have a line on a pretty nice 2013 rubicon. I believe most of my parts will switch over fine, and I will get a better engine, gear ratio, and d44 axle. But I will also get pretty hefty car payments.

Is a 2013 worth the extra four years of payments? Any thoughts?

I have a thread on this same exact question when I get on my PC I'll try to link it to you ... I kept my 09 and only owe 6500 now! It came down to this, I can buy a new mod every month or drive a new stock jeep(2013), that I would hate my self if I screwed up offroad ! Now when I wheel I almost hope I break a "weak link" so I can do more upgrades ! Pay your 09 off keep it as a toy and buy a new one in 2016

NP man the new motor is tempting for sure but I know me , I would never beat a brand new 38k jeep up like I would my 09 with 130k on it. My motor is still strong and everything works great. My jk will be my dd until 200k (or the new model) the funny part is people still think she just rolled off the assembly line.

Thanks for the feedback. They are both unlimited automatics. Mine has a mere 52k on it now. Mostly a mall crawler that sees occasional mud.

Having had a 07, and now a 2012, the 2012 was worth every penny. However I do a 3000m+ road trip every summer... found myself hating every hill.

However... had my 07 had AC (I know sounds stupid), I would have kept it and built it up. But without AC, it was cheaper to buy a new one with exactly what I wanted (and could wheel out of the box) than it was to build the old one to something comparable.

Here is my take, I had a 10 rubi 2 door manual, I test drove a 12 rubi 2 door stick, and honestly around town it was much better, more torque for sure.. but on the highway... merging flooring it etc.. didn't notice much a difference at all.. both had 4.10's so take that for what it's worth, yes the interior is 10x nicer and you don't have to deal with that "playskool" looking steering wheel, but it wasn't enough at that time for me to change. Now I'm back into a car, until they come out with a diesel, then I'll be back.

It's probably better to keep what you have since you don't owe that much on it and it has low mileage. You can make all the mods you want and save money.

I traded an 11 for a 12 after 8 months of ownership and never regretted it. I had no concern about payments since upgrading cost only a few thousand and the 12 was an upgrade with Automatic Climate Control, Heated Seats, Side Airbags and 730N radio.

I paid more than half down and a year of payments so far so I don't owe that much on mine...

It's your cash... you'll have to decide what's best for you. Good luck!!

Thanks for all the great feedback. I think the smart thing is to keep the girl I brought. Since the four extra months of payments would equal a new d44 and a potential engine swap up the line. Plus, they don't have yellow any more.
