There have been whispers about the next generation going IFS/IRS for a while now, starting with the next generation in 2016..

So I wouldn't be too surprised.

In the car business It's very common to bad mouth the next year model's unknowns.

It's a way to get people to buy now rather than waiting a year, even if you already bought from him. You came here and did exactly what he wanted you to do, which is to spread rumors and prompt others to get their 2014's now before they are all gone and all that's left are the scary 2015's.

Old trick.

How to tell if a salesman is lying to you ...

See if his lips are moving.

Guess I never thought of it that way. I had mine already so I knew he wasn't trying to sell me on the 14's. I truly was looking to see of anyone had heard any of the "rumors" or if he was really just BSing. I'll post a disclaimer DO NOT BUY A 2014 based off the rumors in this post!!!!! Buy one cause Jeeps ROCK!

While they may get info to whats up and coming before the general public, if a vehicle is getting a redesign, they would have had test mules out and someone would have spotted one.
I was ordering my 2013 JK in Feb 2013, and I had an option to order 2014 for additional 3,xxx dollars. Don't remember exact number.

Unless the Dealership actually could get an order set up in the system for a 2014, they were just blowing smoke and wanted to hang on to your deposit money. Think about when the first 2014's were released...not that long ago.

I watched this happen with the new-for-2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Dealers would take "orders" (which were really pre-orders/deposits) for the New Camaro but they had no way to actually requisition one in the computer system.

Dealers are great, however, sometimes their employees will say anything to make a sale or generate revenue.

No, I wasn't buying through a normal dealership. I was buying via "NEX overseas Car Sale Program" for Service members stationed overseas.
