285/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's on Factory 17" wheels - PSI?
What psi does everyone recommend I run in my 285/70/17 GY Duratrac's? I have them at 38 right now, but thought I read somewhere they should be lower. Any help here please?

Found this on another Jeep forum. Looks like good information:
"Checking proper tire inflation is rather simple and requires some chalk or a utility crayon.
Make a mark all the way across each tire from sidewall to sidewall.
Drive the Jeep for a short distance, a straight line is best.
Note the wear pattern in the chalk. If there is chalk left at the edges, the tire is over inflated. Chalk left in the center means it's under-inflated. A clean pattern indicates the pressure is just right for your tire/rim/vehicle combination."
- end of quote -
The 285/70R16 Duratrac is rated to carry almost 3200 pounds per tire at the maximum inflaction shown on the tire sidewall. For sure you would not run them that hard on a 4-5,000 pound Jeep.
Goodyear does not seem to publish inflation pressure for a given load on their tires, so the chalk test is probably the best information you will find.
