Have you guys seen the commercial for the new Mustang that says it has a 300 h.p. V-6???
Why the hell can't they do that for the JK ???!!!!!???? What a crock !!!!

 

That would be cool.
The only problem is 90% of the people that buy Jeeps drive them like a car.
Just think about all the bad PR for roll overs. This might be the reason we don't see a V8 in a Wrangler. The general public wouldn't know how to drive them.

The rumors say the Pentestar will deliver 280 to 290 HP. It will also deliver up to 90% of that HP at low RPMs.

 

Is that the V6 getting that much or the 5.0 that was supposed to go back into the 2011 model?

 

Ford says 305HP out of a V-6. Pretty stout V-6.

 

The V6 in the Mustang is 300+ BHP rated at 30 mpg. The V6 in the Camaro is 300+ BHP at just under 30 mpg. The V8's in both are 400+ with very little loss in fuel efficiency.

 

V6 Mustang runs 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, gets between 29 and 31 MPG on the highway. If you've not heard this motor at full power high in the rev band, it sounds spectacular. Completely different than the NASCAR sound of the GT, but no less impressive.

Think about that... 305 hp and 280 ft/lb of torque out of just 221 cubic inches.

That would take 'give a damn'. Jeep doesn't 'give a damn' because people are still going to buy the wrangler. imo

 

Got my wife a nice new Acura MDX loaded, which has a 3.7 V6 300hp - absolute night and day difference from my jeep ... but still love my Jeep!
