Default v-6

Hell, my wife's toyota minivan had 275 hp and great low end torque. I think that engine came out in the minivans in 2004.

Chrysler is just garbage. The Wrangler is one of few highlights for the company, no matter how hard they try to ruin it.

That said, I love my Jeep JK (especially after 15 years with FJ40s, 1970s Broncos and 1980s 4Runners), even though this vehicle has cemented my disdain for Chrysler.

P.S. - 1980s 4Runners = still awesome.

The current 3.8 is gone and I would assume that it would be leaving with the next re-fresh to the wrangler. All current model v6 engines are being replaced with the new Pentastar starting first with the new 2011 grand cherokee. The rumored ratings for that 3.6 L is 290 HP with 260 ft lb of torque from 1600-6400 RPM. I have taken this info from allpar.com which seems to be pretty accurate with their up coming information.

Also this is with out direct injection.

Just think about all the bad PR for roll overs. This might be the reason we don't see a V8 in a Wrangler. The general public wouldn't know how to drive them.
2X

Talked to a dealer who had been selling jeeps since the CJ's, he said back then you could get a tiny little CJ5 with a v8 and they had a ton of roll overs and wreck from people who didnt understand how unstable a jeep is on the road compared to a car. Honestly, Im just glad they didnt stick a 4 banger in the base JK because i bought a base JK.

BTW can someone PLEASE stick the 4.7 v8 in a jk! I want a v8 eventually but still find a hemi overkill.

Yes, the 3.7L TDI DOHC V6 will put out around 305hp while the 5.0L V8 will put out 412hp. I wonder if one of those would fit in the JK

Ford is not the only with a 300 HP V6, Chevy has one too and the Toyota one is pretty close.

The upcoming Pentastar may have 290 HP, but it only has 260 ft-lbs. Not very impressive performance for $1B in R&D over 5 years. This engine should have been out 3 years ago.
