30K service
Has anyone done the 30K service? If so, how much did it cost? The manager at the Jeep dealership I ordered from said that it was very expensive. It has been a while, so I don’t remember the exact $$ amount. I want to say that it was around a grand. He is a friend of my father, and I was asking advice and his opinion about the maintenance contracts and if they were worth it. He explained that if the contract goes beyond the 30000 mark, it would because that service alone is almost as much as what the entire contract would cost.
My Jeep dealer gave me a Jeep Maintenance Schedule and Price sheet when I bought JK (so that I can decide if I want to buy maintenance package/coupons or not). According to this sheet, it will cost $516.94 for 30,000 mile check-up.
My dealer offered 36,000 mile maintenance package for $1,495. If I want the 36,000 mile package, I need to buy/pay $1,495 within 120 days from the day of the purchase (JK). They also have 75,000 mile package for over $2,500!! The price might be different for you though... probably the maintenance prices are set by each dealer.

Regular 3,000 mile check-up is $29.95. 6,000 mile is $75.95, 21,000 mile is $368.32. etc. 30,000 mile check-up is the most expensive one according to this sheet.

I hope the 3,000 mile check up includes an oil change or keep on driving. The thing is 3,000 miles old for crying out loud.
I suggest taking the hundred and five dollars you'ld save on the first two check ups and go to Costco and buy a floor jack and a case of oil. Change your oil every 3,000, rotate your tires every other oil change, and then fix something when it breaks. Spend your money somewhere important or give it to your favorite charity. How about Rubimon's Jeep Aholics Shelter.

That does not seem to make sense at all.. The total for all of the 36k services adds up to 1416. What is the benefit of purchasing this in advance. I used to change the oil in my vehicle, no longer have the time. I have a great mechanic that is very fair. Charges me 20 bucks for an oil change. Just want to get an idea as to what these service packages involove.
You definitely save a lot of money if you do everything by yourself. You don't need to pay labor or other unknown extra charge. All you need to pay is oil, filter etc. You probably only need to spend several hundred dollars up to 36,000 mile.
But, if you don't want to do maintenance by yourself, the package might make sense. According to my calculation, if you pay individually (every 3,000 miles) it adds up to $2,687 by 36,000 mile So, $1,495 isn't that bad compare to that. If you bring to Jiffy Lube or other cheap shop, they'll probably rip you off.
I have 75,000 mile maintenance package for '05 Liberty Renegade. That with 75,000 mile/5 year..or 7 year? warranty (back then Jeep offered better warranty), it covers pretty much everything. Back then, the maintenance package was much cheaper and I paid about $1,500 for 75,000 mile. I've never paid a dime since then... everything is covered; parts... even wear and tear parts and never ask for any extra charge. Free car wash and every six month, they wax and do other detailing. As long as you get a good deal, it's not bad at all, in my opinion.
