Default Additional warrenty worth it?

What do you think about additional 6 year/100K warrenty that they offer for purchase. Is it worth the money?

I bought the warranty on my last car... I never used it and it felt like handcuffs for getting mods. I know mods are not supposed to blanket void your warranty but if you have mods you always run the risk of having a hassle with warranty work.

Another problem I have with the warranties is they have deductible, so a lot of little things that might wear out might not cross the threshold to where its even worth running it through the warranty. Even big stuff like a transmission failing, I would be willing to bet in a few years you could source a used transmission from a junk yard for about $1000 and installed for $700 or so, and I would say that's worst case scenario.

That's just my opinion, I have a garage I trust to do work like alternators, radiators, a/c's, window motors, etc and friends with lifts that have rebuilt engines and transmissions. I would like the option to mod my Jeep after 3 years without feeling like I need to walk the warranty tight rope.

If you want to keep your Jeep mostly stock and have some peace of mind go for it though.

I have a 5yr/100K "service contract" and so far I'm happy I bought it. It cost $2500 including gap insurance and there is no deductible. It was incorporated into my financing and only raised my payment by $40 a month, so I felt it was worth it. So far I have had $1200 worth of work done that would have otherwise been out of my pocket. I am also only at 43K miles and have 3.5yrs left, so if something else breaks it is nice knowing it is taken care of. The only thing not covered is the clutch. Yes, there is a risk that the warranty company declining a repair due to my mods, but so far so good... Even the ball joints are covered!! A friend of mine has the same contract with his 07 rubi and he just had over $3000 worth of work done. So for me it has been worth it so far. On top of it all, I refinanced a few months back lowering my payment by $60 a month, so I don't even notice the cost of the warranty now.

I bought it on mine, it was around $2500 with the gap too. Normally i would steer away from warranty's because usually they are a scam but the jeep wranglers don't get very high mechanical reviews and i had a 2005 grand cherokee that had to have lots of work done. So i figured it was worth the money up front to not worry later when something fails. Only concern is warranty vs aftermarket part blame. The dealership told me as long as it wasn't super modified, like don't go cutting and welding stuff on it i would be fine for coverage. Lets hope so.

I also bought the Extended service contract. Think it was $2300 for the lifetime one. Brought my Jeep in as my transmission was leaking and guess the transmission pump (?) went and it was only going to cost $100 to fix because the deductible.. But since i told the dealer i have the lifetime powertrain that came with it, it was free (which they should of known). otherwise if i didnt have the lifetime powertrain it probally would of costed me somewhere close to the extended contract amount to fix it so in my experience i think its a good deal since its lifetime for only $2300
