Some info I found.

http://tim.midwestlost.com/blog/?p=367

From allpar: http://www.allpar.com/model/upcoming.html

“vwtodd” confirmed that the 2012 will include the Pentastar V6; a diesel was being looked at, but needs to pass emissions at reasonable cost. A new automatic is planned and probably a new Fiat manual transmission, possibly with an updated transfer case (maybe bringing back a full-time setting for broader market appeal). Sheet metal changes will improve aerodynamics (strong chance of major windshield and front end redesign). There is a strong chance of some sort of "stripped" model as production line can now apply bedliner to tubs during assembly. Better quality is also expected.

I don't know how reliable this info is.

The salesperson at my dealership told me there was a possibility of a mid 2011 release of the Pentastar. He said "possibly in March" He wanted me to test drive a Chrysler 200 with a Pentastar. These guys will almost always tell you what you want to hear.

I doubt very much that you will see the piece of crap engine change as a mid year stand alone change, changing engines is a major modification and it will probably come wrapped in some form of sheet metal change at the same time. Doubt that there will be that much change as they have just updated the interior, but time will tell. give us the diesel and scrap the pentastar.

I was up in Michigan last week and passed 3 new Wranglers with CRD badges. My guess was road testing. They looked like they had seen hundreds of miles of salty roads that day. It stopped me in my tracks as I passed them.

If we can really get a 400+ ft-lb diesel in a JK. I'll sell my Duramax tomorrow.

Dont even need the 400+ ft-lb, just bring on a diesel with decent gearing
