I've made cargo racks before for hard top Jeeps, but never one that would work with the soft top. I would imagine that it wouldn't be very difficult to build one that attaches to your hard top, where the difficulty comes in is making it work with a soft top, or your freedom top panels. I say go for it!

Are you talking about an overhead rack or something that hangs off the back?

I've been thinking about making one for my soft top. I've tossed a couple ideas around. Possibly running legs down to the rear bumper and the windshield hinges or front bumper seems the most plausible.

I shortened an OEM Cherokee roof rack and installed it on my 07 hard top.
