Try some bug and tar spray. Just make sure to wash the area after you use it.

I work with some road construction and a few of my employees have worked in the asphalt labs. They have always used Pam cooking spray to clean their tools, they say it works way better than the WD 40 or other cleaners. I haven't used it for cooking since.

Tarminator. Made by a company named Stoner. Used it for years when I was detailing cars. Never had a problem with paint. Just spray it on, give it a few seconds and start wiping it off.Wash the area with mild soap and water afterwrds. It will begin to evaporate so keep the can handy. I have found it at Checkers and Autozone. Hope this helps.

I have used wd-40, make sure to use a towel that will not scratch your jeep that bad if your worried about scratches. Make sure to wash the area after you use whatever to take it off. I have seen different products fade paint due to leaving it on there.

all tar remover is based on KEROSENE. GO buy a gallon of kerosene and it will do the whole jeep several times over for $2.99.....won't hurt the paint either. In the old days prep departments added kerosene to their wash bucket water, puts a heck of a shine on the vehicle, doesn't last too long before needing a redo....

Use VARSOL...father-in-law used it to remove tar on my vehicles....owned a body shop for 30 years. It won't affect the clearcoat....just after use...wash with soap and water.
