Bad carfax?

See if you have any of the old ads / descriptions on your car from when you bought it. If they represented it as 'accident / damage' free, you may have a case to approach the original seller. You are in a situation of diminished value if there was an accident, as it will/may be discovered as you go to sell the car.
This all assumes you find any prior damage / repaint.
ps. My wife's 2004 BMW was rear ended, fixed (via insurance) at a large DFW area BMW dealer and never reported to carfax. ($9500 in repairs) I eventually sold it to CarMax and personally disclosed the damage to them out of moral obligation. (To help net back on my losses - I threatened and won $6500 from the at fault's insurance company, above the repairs $'s).
