Interesting stuff. There is a clip on you tube where a stock 2012 JK with standard tires put out 187. I'm surprised the 35in tires didn't lower horsepower.
I am installing the exhaust tomorrow. I have 1700 miles on my rig. I hear the computer limits the motor for the first 2000 miles for break in.
I plan on getting mine dynod next Saturday. I'm a man of my word, it will be done.

I was just glad I found your post before I made any engine performance mods. I wish I had thought to baseline it while it was fully stock. At least I have this now with the 35s and can benchmark it again once I figure out what mod(s) to do. I find this very interesting and $75 isn't too high a price to satisfy my curiosity. (I have plenty of other satisfactions that cost me more)
That's a lot of power lost between the motor and the wheels on the '12. The '07 checked in at 152 and the '12 (90hp more) checked in at 187. I know one was an auto and one was a manual but I would have expected more of a difference between them.
Not only will this string help people understand the benefits of intake /exhaust restriction, it will show the effects of tire size and gear ratio on the horsepower and torque to hit the ground.

I think the delta I saw once was 202 HP for the 3.8 and 285 for the 3.6. That's an 83 HP delta. I don't know what the '07 driveline was and can't say what his tires were to account for any differences in weight, rotational / rolling resistances. Hopefully we can hear from some folks with more knowledge than I can offer at this point. I wonder how much HP the 5-speed auto trans takes to spin?

I hear that!
