How is it worthless? It is so accurate that it can measure downhill when barely any fuel is being used, or uphill when lots of fuel gets used. If you don't reset it between uphill and downhill it averages the two and shows you the total. The MPG computer itself is very good, but there is a ton of misunderstanding about how the thing works.

Here I am doing the happy dance when I hit 17.5mpg, going to have to coast for now on.

I've done a downhill(mountain) and got 97mpg before. On average however, I normally get 12-16, depending on how heavy my foot feels at times. Uphill, I have seen .4 before lol. That wasn't very awesome.

The best I have ever got was 24.2 on a 100 mile trip, mixed driving lots of hills and downhills. 45-65 mph. Worst tank was 16.1 mpg, mostly city. I average about 20 mpg overall. 3.8L auto 2 door.

What did your trans temp gauge say? Haha. Or what did the brake lining wear indicator look like. Lol. That's actually pretty cool that it could even read three digits. Haha. Mine hovers around 18-20 for the most part, but I live in Dallas and my commute is the toll road every day. Not much stop and go. Mostly 65-70 mph.
