I'm guessing you had it floored when it caught traction?

They are fairly easy to fix. If you don't know how, make an inquiry to one of your local 4x4 clubs. And then pay close attention to the very nice person who fixes it for you. This makes a great club meeting demonstration to show others how to make this all to common repair

$227 is what my right front cost, Dana 30. Took it in in the morning and it was ready the next afternoon. I had to pay for to pick it up because they denied the warranty claim. I kept fighting them and eventually got my money back.

So if you replace it with a Chrysler part do you still have the unlimited drive train warrantee on that part (assuming it’s considered broken under warrantee), or is that part never part of the warrantee again?

If they don't warranty it, and you put in the OEM shafts, have someone tack-weld the caps to the yokes. The flaw with the OEM yokes is that they don't accept full-circle clips and the clips fall out. This allows the cap to "walk" out, leading to failure at the joint. Another option is to machine the yokes to accept full-circle clips. These things would void the warranty on them if they are in fact under warranty, but great otherwise. Good luck.

Lucky you did not knock the knuckle off the axle with that kind of break. Had a friend do this last spring at Windrock outside of Oak Ridge, TN. Took us almost 6 hours to get him up the mountain to where I could get a truck and flatbed trailer.
You should be able to get this covered under warranty.
