Default Bug with the 2012 model WTF !!!!!!

A member in my Jeep club has the new 2012 JKU

He forgot to put his soft top, and the rain came in the Jeep

The water came in through the control buttons located in the steering.

And because of the water inside, nothing is working now. NOTHING

The dealer has to order new parts, the guy is still waiting for his Jeep after 3 weeks.

WTF

WTF indeed. You would think engineers would have realized they were producing a convertible.

This sounds like operator error. How can you blame this on jeep?

Well, regardless of whether the guy left his top down by accident or was caught in a sudden downpour it sounds like the Jeep fails to operate under what could be considered a "fairly likely" operating condition with a convertible? They should have taken precautions to weatherproof the controls, or to make them non-essential to the Jeep's operation if they do get shorted out.

How does he know it is because the control pad got wet? Seems kind of crazy that during the process of relocating the controls from the stalk to a pad on the wheel they didn't waterproof it.

Absolutely nothing, minus my own excessive personal self-aggrandizement.

No doubt: It has been inspected by the dealer: water INSIDE the electronic components
