Default Buring oil?- not sure what is going on

I noticed yesterday that starting in 1st gear I get every now and then a chime and the oil indicator light flashes.. Thought it was weird, doesnt stay on or anything. Had the hubby check the oil this evening.. I am down about 4 quarts. After I said "WTF" I am wondering if anyone has had issues with thier Wrangler. There is no oil on our driveway or any sign of leaking anywhere outside of the vehicle.. Also checked in the coolant.. anyone anyone??? Mine is a 2007 Wrangler unlimited.. Of course the service dept was closed by the time I got home but I am thinking I may have a HUGE issue on my hand..

Anyone with feedback I welcome it..

Thanks!

4 quarts is a HUGE amount. I believe it only holds 6! I'd have to think that someone didn't fill it up the last time the oil was changed. To be that low, with no signs of an oil leak, you'd have to be burning oil, which your JK would be smoking like a train!

I think I might be having the same issue.. check out the thread I started

Dealership changes my oil, and I check the dipstick as soon as I pull out of the service bay, always right where it should be.

To both of you,

I'd make damn sure this wasn't it:

Would the oil leak on to the ground? I never have any drops anywhere in the driveway.

I have no first hand experience, my Rubi has 16 K miles, and every time I've changed the oil the dipstick read the same before I take out the old as when I'd first put it in. They say that you'll notice what appears to be oil on the underside, but it doesn't necessarily drip off.
