Default Busted for no Front Mud Flaps?

I was running a front license plate, wide mud flaps in the rear on my JK with 40" tires. I was pulled over and busted for No Front Mud Flaps. Has anyone else been busted for this, or am I in a league of my own. I'm in SoCal and was busted by a Fullerton motorcycle officer. He also walked around the Jeep taking pictures! What's up with that?

I see your in CA. They are super strick on all that stuff out there. You modify anything outside DOT regulations and they will stick it to you. I think it's just a revenue thing.

*thanks God he doesn't live in that shithole state California*

*thanks God he lives in a state where he can walk around with a gun on his hip, and doesn't pay out the ass in taxes, nor does anyone give a shit about his vehicle unless its to say "sweet"*

*asks God if he would finally make California snap off the Continental U.S. at the fault line, drift out to sea, capsize like that island the Democratic Senator said would happen, and then sink into the abyss like that city named Atlantis that now has mer-people swimming around and singing songs with their crab and flounder friends.*

Amen.

They just had a huge "Inspection Blitz" here in Winnipeg. We have an informal "Sunday Night Cruise" where people with custom cars all get out and go for a drive on some or our main roads. Everything from ricers, to hotrods, to 4x4's, I think it's pretty cool for us to have it, it's a parade of custom cars every weekend

Anyways, this last sunday the cops decided to do this blitz, at one of the inspection spots they inspected 102 vehicles, issued 106 tickets, with 82 failures, 17 vehicles towed, and ONLY 3 people passed!!!

They gave a guy ticket for not having a windshield washer fluid system in a 32 ford hotrod. Other things like having smoked/tinted tail lights, mudflaps, neon lights under cars, pickups with roll-pans instead of a rear bumper, etc. were all ticketed.

So ya, I've heard of that kind of BS.

Damn. That ain't right.

brainchild, did he say why you needed flaps? Are the tires sticking out past the fenders? I could see getting ticketed for that. I don't agree with it, but I could understand the flinging mud/rocks as a safety thing.

I encourage everyone to research their respective state/provincial Vehicle Equipment regulations. Each state/province have slight differences, what flys somewhere doesn't elsewhere. Doesn't mean I agree with all requirements or interpretations there of, but I follow them now just to avoid the above mentioned problem...lord knows I don't need 'em, have enough.
When you're done that, I highly encourage you check with your insurance company to ensure that you're still covered if you have a modified vehicle....been there, done that, had my insurance cancelled due to lift kit , be safe out there folks, be informed.
