I'd be screwed with my 48 willys. I don't even have wipers, much less fluid. Hahaha. But then, since I don't have a top for it, I never take it out in the rain. I just carry a small squeegee to wipe off the mud from time to time as needed. But then, I live in KY and the state doesn't care as long as you pay your taxes on it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But I bet CA cops are lectured daily on writing as many revenue generating citations as possible these days. It's really petty, if I was that cop I wouldn't even consider enforcing such petty stuff.

Oh, and I still wouldn't get mud flaps either if it were me and my Jeep

 

Years ago I had a Toyota on 35s and got busted for no mud flaps.
This was in PA.

 

Its mostly about the $$$$$. They don't pull over any muffler draggin hoopty's around here. They ticket people with nicer vehicles cause they know they'll pay the ticket. Ticket writing is more about revenue than enforcing the law.

 

Shoot you should move out here. As long as it some turn signals and tail light and a headlight you can just about drive anything. Its crazy, I am originally fom SOCAL and the stuff that is legall here is only a Californian's wet dream. I have seen Quads, race bikes, golf carts, and full on Sand cars driving on the streets out here.

Did you do anything bad to get noticed before he pulled you over??? I personally think you got boned....never heard of getting a ticket for lack of front mud flaps it is usually just the rear are an issue.
