On second thought, do it and put a sticker on the back that say "Official Land Rover Camel Trophy recovery vehicle". That will cover you.:thumbsup:

Me too, that will show those Land Drover guys.:beer:
BTW, I love the Camel Trophy, to bad they used Land Drovers and not Jeeps, but a Jeep theme will look killer. |
Go for it - there are pelnty of overland/expedition modded Jeeps. Don't just build it, use it!

If you like those colors/look go for it but I wouldn't put Camel Trophy stickers on it. I had a Camel Trophy Discovery (Now own a G4 challenge discovery...sold to dealers not used in event) and I can tell you every time you come across a Rover lover they'll give you hell about it for making a jeep version. The sandglow paint looks great on any 4x4. Most LR owners aren't big on jeeps and vice versa. I like both as I can't mod a defender like I can mod a Jeep. If you need to know anything about the Camel Trophy trucks send me a pm. I'm actually looking for another CT discovery but it's impossible to find one actually for sale that's in anywhere close to decent shape. Most you find are homages and not real

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...see-em-181613/ Plenty of ideas for modding a Jeep, and for adventures to pursue. Final thought: If you really like the distinctive Camel Trophy banner, but don't want the likely poseur association, you might come out with something similar, but more relevant to you. Like maybe the same shape and colored banner, but labeled "Mojave Trail Challenge" or some such (something relevant to what you've really done). That would pay respect to the Camel Trophy series, but keep it real to you. Final, final thought: Love Defenders. Good friend of mine whom I have taken many trips with drives one (and his wife has a JKU) ... http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...88845403_n.jpg |
Not a bad idea. I have seen quite a few of the Camel Trophy vehicles. The shop that does some of the work on my Jeep actually builds overland Land Rovers to include some of the Camel Trophy vehicles. Nene Overland 4x4, Land Rover Defender 90, 110, 130, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover Sales, Service, Parts, Hire and Preparation
