Carrying long stuff
So I'd thought I would share a trick I have used several times when trying to carry long items in the back of the JK, like doors and 2x4's. Maybe others already do this too.
Problem:
Screen door from Home Depot - more than 80 inches long. Even with the seat folded down, you cannot close the tailgate.
Even if you rolled up the back window, the tire and third brake light are in the way and would bang on your item.
Solution: Ratchet Straps!!
Use a ratchet strap on the roll bars to create a middle support so the long item sits on a slant but is supported nice and flat by the strap. I actually used 2 sets of ratchet straps for 2 sets of screen doors. Each was supported separately and weighed around 50 lbs each (glass inserts).
TADA!!
I have carried an 80 lb glass door this way - only for a few blocks but it was solid.

I dropped the top and lost the doors to pick up a glass door in my 2dr.....strap it to the roll cage as much as possible and wave as people pass by.
