Hey man thanks for screwing up my purchase of some slightly used half doors real cheap.
I have a real question here with the half doors I would assume they are still wired for the security system and overhead light like a full door is. Wouldn't the alarm go off when they opened the half door assuming it was set just like if you opened a full door with the top off or window down? If this is not the case I am glad I did not wait for half doors.
BTW yes the alarm will go off if the full door is opened when the alarm is set.

Thats why Tuffy makes door locks...although I don't know if they have them for the JK yet.

I just checked and their web site doesn't show locks for the JK yet. Lets go Tuffy, get to work.

Wouldn't really make a difference with half doors. They could just cut the plastic and unlock it from the inside.

The power convenience group with the alarm isn't available with half door JKs. So you'd need to add something aftermarket

Okay that explains a lot. I know for a fact top off windows open you set the alarm and later on open the door the alarm will sound. I would have thought the half doors would work the same. I guess the alarm on one with half doors is useless then. I mean it does not go off when you pop the hood, would not when you open the doors so I guess it would be stripped in about 15 min with the alarm still set.

The half doors still have hinges don't they?

I'm talking about the hinge locks that mount to the upper door hinge with a barrel-keyed lock. They're not plastic but steel. I have them on my TJ. You may be able to cut them with a torch...or a .30-06.

I guess it's up to Tuffy to figure out if they can make them for the JK hinges.

You can actually just reach under the flap with your finger and unzip the zipper.
Unlock the door, pull the wiring plug, disconnect the door strap. With a L shaped torque tool unscrew the bottom nut on the pin. The doors are less than half the weight of full doors. Two people could have all 4 doors off and into the back of their truck or van in less than 5 minutes. A quick couple of grand.

Well, jeeps are a real easy target, so thieves naturally love them. lately, GPS units have been taken like crazy. I got someone for stealing those, and he told me something pretty interesting. If you have a portable GPS, keep a can of Windex glass wipes in your car. Thieves look on windshields for suction cup marks, and if they see one, they assume you took it off and put it in the glove box or console, and 95% of the time, they are right!!!!
