Ramsey, they do specialize in more industrial type, tow trucks etc, but they make great smaller vehicle size winches too

Some of the less expensive Warns are made in China which is where a lot of the others are made. Chinese stuff is fine and hard to buy around when going to made in USA products - which should read in most cases as "assembled in USA, made in China".
Also steel cable simply needs to be coated with oil or WD40 twice a year and it will never fray or rust and will stay like new. If you go Synthetic then get the line from a crane rigging shop - they sell top quality, will make them up for you and don't charge like a wounded buffalo.

Yes I agree with you. You are right. Three months ago today I also bought it and it has been very useful for me.

Warn VR series are made in China like all the other brands mentioned. Warn M series (I run a M8000S) are still made in the USA.

If you have the $ get a Warn 9.5 CTIS its the best winch they make except for the 9.0RC.

My wife, brother-in-law and I have been running the 12K Badlands APEX for a few years and haven't had any issues with it. I know its not a warn but, it works and doesn't cost as much.
