Well... up to just over 13,000 miles now and still running strong. No ticking noise... still have good mileage (approx. 18mpg)... coming up on the second oil change.

Awesome maverick! Same here man except I did my oil changes early (5k increments). I bought a 97 vw jetta diesel to drive back and forth to work. My 2.5 x-factor came in a few weeks ago. I have to get my tdi to 100% so I can feel confident pulling the jeep apart. Marcus at river city offroad has been really good to me.

Kewl... yeah I've reverted back to driving my Honda Element every other day so to save on the gas costs and the mileage. I'd like to leave the miles on the JKU to those for wheeling... though I haven't gone wheeling too much lately. The only thing close was today when I drove down some dirt roads near where I work so I could put things in 4Hi and 4Lo (to keep things lubed). I did hit some mud though from the recent rains... so at least the rig doesn't look "Mall-Rated" LOL.

I forgot to mention that I'm currently trying to save the green stamps for a lift, larger tires... and hopefully the desired rear bumper and wheel carrier.

My drive to work is about 26 miles one-way... but its under a lot of construction (they're replacing the country road with a multi-lane highway)... so the speed is usually around 40mph with a few stops. If I put my foot into it I can see the mileage drop to around 16.5-17mpg... but usually my average mileage is 17mpg (when I'm heavy footed) or around 18mpg when I take my time and go easy. The 18mpg though is considered a combined highway/city mileage.

I did take a trip a while back to Prescott, Arizona (starting from Goodyear, AZ)... and though I was watching the onboard mileage meter... it was saying my trip up to Prescott wasn't too good (probably due to climbing elevation)... but coming back the meter got past 20mpg. The only thing was I didn't save my receipt and the mileage count from the odometer to get a true or more accurate mileage reading. I guess I'll have to try it again... GRIN

Also... when I went to Prescott I had my hardtop on. I found that with the softtop on the mileage seems to drop a little... and even more if you take the top off. I think it creates more drag... the physics majors out here could probably explain better. I might also add that I'm running a 6-speed manual which at one point in time the manuals used to get better mileage than automatics but I think the automatics have improved in efficiency... but I thought you might want to transmission for comparison.

I average 18mpg with city and hwy. I did a 1000 mile road trip last summer and with a speed of 65mph, I got 20.4 mpg. At the present I only have 33x12.5 tires, a 6-speed rubi with 4.10 gearing.

A tail wind or head wind, can drastically improve or drastically hurt gas mileage in these things.

I have 373 gears w/ 33's and I never, never get anything over 14mpg.

I drive 100 miles roundtrip to work. Most times I get 13/13.5 average.

Windy corridor I drive through but still pretty bad mpg.

Edit: average 65 -70 mph

3.6 with 6spd, 4.10 and 33's averaging 19mpg in the colder months on a 130 mile round trip commute, 85% highway. In warmer months the mpg is a little higher.
