Clean Jeep
As a kid/young adult, my CJ-5, CJ-7, J-20, Ford Super Duty's never got washed. Dirty was cool! However my vehicles were disgusting to work on and always seemed to be broken or about to break.
My JK gets wheeled hard now, but I take pride in keeping it cleaned and polished between wheeling trips (no Armor All, I hate that greasy crap!). I have noticed that when I now keep my Offroad vehicles clean and mud free, they last longer, don't seem to leak and need seals replaced, and damage is easier to spot. Washing it often keeps me on top of dents, scratches and possible problems. Hmmm, go figure.......taking care of your stuff makes it last longer. All these years, who would have known

You guys are nuts haha!!!!
I keep my Jeep clean all the time. I actually hate when people dont wash their jeeps. It looks horrible, you look dirty, makes people thinK how dirty your house is, and you probably dont shower. All that dirty mud under your jeep mixed with water makes a lot of rust, Bolts dont come off, and your jeep starts to smell like a swamp. not good for your engine, also the ladies wont notice you or the jeep covered in mud!

My daughter insists that my Jeep be cleaned if it gets dirty wheeling. She and my son love the Jeep, and love getting to "help" me clean it. I don't care how clean it gets, but I cherish the quality time.
I have mixed opinions on this topic. I like the way it looks with mud on it. I also get a perverse satisfaction watching a fresh coat of mud drip off of my Jeep in a parking lot surrounded by clean (or at least much cleaner) cars. Since I live in Germany, very few people actually go off roading, and most cars are surprisingly clean, so the Jeep gets even more attention when it is muddy.
On the flip side, I hate working on a muddy, oily, or generally dirty vehicle. I also know that cleaning it is better for the vehicle. I also hate haveing a dirty interior.
My solution... After wheeling I clean the underbody, the engine bay, all suspension parts, and the interior (with the exception of the sports cage). I leave the mud on the body until it starts to come off on its own and doesn't look like it came from a recent off road trip. At that point, I wash the outside as well. This way I get the best of both worlds.

x2, I don't even have kids and that I think that is just an awesome photo. Brings back memories to the very late 60's and early 70's when I just loved washing my dad's hunting rig, a lifted 1960 Chevy Suburban. That is where I got my start at being fascinated by 4x4's, washing his trucks. Again very cool photo.
