hey guy`s and girls well been looking at 2012 or 2011 wranglers and really like them but a friend of mine found out and say`s - don`t go with a jeep - too high priced the ride is terrible gas milage stinks for a vehicle that size - they say go with a tacoma or a f-150 - i really like the unlimited crush so give me reasons to stay with the jk ....
If you want to be able to take the roof and doors off, and can put up with the gas mileage hit and will actually take it offroad, then you should consider the jeep. It's hard to explain, like the saying goes, "It's a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand." You will not be able to compare statistics and come out at the end with the jeep as a clear winner. The reasons are intangible. But if you are bitten by the bug, there's no addiction like it.

Well I can start by saying Wranglers keep their value like 93% of their value. An F150 losses 50% of its value before you ever change the oil. Also the 2012 jeep gets roughly the same gas mileage as the 2012 F150. Oh Jeeps are fun as hell!
Nothing like taking the top an doors off on a nice summer day and just cruising. Yeah the ride
may not be as nice as a 40k pickup so if you want comfort over fun that would be the way to go. But expensive? You can get a 4 door sport for under 30k so I'm not sure where they got that idea.?!?!?
But like I said you can not even find a used JK or TJ for that matter going for under 17k here but I can find a shite ton of f 2008-10 Ford pickups for 13-16k .
I'm not trying to sell you on it LOL but do your own research.

I'm confused as to why they would suggest a truck when you've been looking at jeeps
they aren't very similar. I love my jk, they are a blast to cruise around in and like the others have said they are so much fun in the sun (topless doorless) nothin beats it but they are also fun in the snow! Just think about what your needs are cause a jk and a full size truck are two completely different animals

Oh and as far as the ride goes, has your friend ever ridden in a jk? Or an unlimited for that matter? My parents had only been in older wranglers so when I bought mine they couldn't get over how great the ride was compared to the older wranglers
JK is a Jeep. Tacoma and F150 are light trucks. My F150 won't do what my JK will do, and visa versa. Its a question of knowing what you want and choosing it.
Both will run to the store for beer or take you to work, but after that there is not much in common.
If you think of a Jeep as something that will provide daily transportation and then take you on off-road adventures all weekend, then its a great vehicle.
If you think of a Jeep as a fashion statement that won't bring much stuff home from the building supply, then you might as well get a light truck.
Either vehicle type is heavy and not cheap to operate. My JK and F150 weigh about the same but the Jeep feels much lighter to drive and its a helluva lot more fun.
My JK rides better than my F150, and the JK seats are better - or at least my butt thinks so. Any Jeep reputation for a bad ride goes back to pre-JK models.
But mostly, my JK is a gas. Owning it feels like a hobby while my F150 is just another pickup truck.

If you are into mods, check out after market accessories for both Jeep and Tacoma. Jeep stuff is more plentiful and better priced. When my Tacoma friend said he was going to pay near $1,000 for rock sliders, I laughed at him and told him to buy a Jeep!
